ELECTRONIC LANGUAGE LABORATORY µLAB100

µLAB100 is designed as an standalone device with manual controls (basic version), which gains additional possibilities (improved version) upon the connection to the computer and after installing eLAB100, a specially developed software. Student seats are equipped with active, mutually networked audio boxes. Students are split into four groups of no more than eight people. Audio boxes used by a group of students are linked to each other in a chain, and the first or the last audio box in a group is linked to the central device. Standard computer multimedia earphones with electret microphone are connected to the audio box. The installation can be fixed or mobile. In case of a mobile version, all equipment is situated in a portable cabinet made of patterned chipboard, so it is necessary to spread the cables in the classroom and connect student seats to the central device before the lesson starts. When it finishes, it takes only a few minutes to pack the equipment back into the cabinet and transfer it to another classroom.

Basic version of µLAB100 enables:
• broadcasting of lessons by means of headphones with a microphone connected to a computer or an external source (DVD, MP3, CD player, tape recorder, video recorder, etc.) for a maximum of 32 students and teachers
• teacher’s addressing the students with or without subject teaching
• two-way communication between the teacher and a single student or a group of students, independent of the subject material taught to the other students
• two-way communication between students within a particular group, under teacher’s supervision
• possibility of broadcasting the conversation between the teacher and a single student to all the students
• possiblity of broadcasting the conversation within a particular group to all the students
• possiblity of student addressing the teacher (“quiz mode”)
• possiblity of *recording lessons, conversations, individual and team work on an external recording device (DVD recorder, tape recorder, etc.)
• possiblity of connection to the external audio system for the purpose of lessons broadcasting through speakers

Improved version of µLAB100, apart from the above-mentioned, also enables:
• controlling all the functions of the device with eLAB100 graphic interface
• possiblity of creating individual protected database of each class with the students’ sitting arrangements for each lecturer
• forming four independent groups of eight students each in mutual two-way communication, with an option for the teacher to intervene in each group’s work
• possibility of **recording lessons, conversations, individual and team work on a computer hard disk
